Applying Barthes narrative codes to music videos from Paul Weller.

There are more cultural codes in Paul Weller videos than any other, the reason for this is that in the 1970's and the 1980's there were a lot of different trends such as punk, skinhead, mods and rockers and Paul Weller music is aimed at the mods and rockers. Paul Weller was also part of the jam and the style council and this made him popular amoung this scene.

There is also some symbolic elements to his music. An example of this is The Jam - Going underground (which I have analysed before) and Eton rifles and the reason for this is that there is an element of anti-establishment throughout both of the songs, here are the two videos...
